Doc Walker is one of Canada’s most successful country rock groups. They have a pick-up truckload of Junos, Canadian Country Music Awards and an army of fans who love them all across North America. This Saturday, Doc Walker performs in Winnipeg in a special program that features seasonal music, new material and their hits.

SCENE asked Chris Thorsteinson, Dave Wasyliw and Murray Pulver about their favourite songs from this holiday time of year.

Doc Walker’s favourite song that they perform:
The tune we all love playing every night is a tune from the Go CD called From Here. It’s a good story song that seems a little timeless. It’s also a fun one to sing and the crowd really seems to react to it well every night.

Chris Thorsteinson:
I’d have to say the version of I’m Dreaming of a White Christmas by the Drifters. It’s a true classic rekindled by me watching the Christmas movie Home Alone.

Murray Pulver:
I love Band Aid’s Do They Know it’s Christmas. It was recorded by pop stars from Ireland, Scotland and England (U2, Phil Collins, Sting etc.) for African famine relief in the 1980’s. The song was a huge success, had a great melody, superb singers and was for a compelling cause. The song also came out during a hugely impressionable time for me musically!

Dave Wasyliw:
I would say most Christmas songs recorded by Nat King Cole. Why? Because it was the only Christmas record we had in the house while I was growing up! Songs like Deck the Halls, The Christmas Song and Joy to the World.

What about you? What’s your favourite Christmas song?
